Urban Environmental Studies
Bachelor of Arts
William G. Holt III, Program Coordinator
The mission of the urban environmental studies program is to help our
students build a foundation for understanding and solving the complex
environmental challenges presented by urbanization and the human
impact on the environment in the twenty-first century. The UES major
blends courses from the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities
to prepare our students to examine urbanism and solutions to urban
environmental issues.
Upon completion of the urban environmental studies major, students will
be able to
•
comprehend principles from the physical and biological sciences
governing the causes of and our responses to urban environmental
issues
•
understand concepts from the social sciences and humanities
revealing the causes of and our responses to urban environmental
issues
•
integrate interdisciplinary approaches to understand and solve
urban environmental issues
