(4) Request his or her high school to send to the Office of Admission a final
official transcript, including Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American
College Test (ACT) scores.
(5) Submit an original personal statement to the College. The form for this
statement is provided with the application materials.
International Students
Applicants who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United
States of America should follow the application and admission guidelines
for international students provided on the College’s website. Applicants
whose native language is not English must demonstrate satisfactory English
language proficiency through the Test of English as a Foreign Language
(TOEFL) or other acceptable examination as determined by the Office of
Admission. A complete set of educational credentials with certified English
translations, if necessary, is required before eligibility for admission can be
determined. Additionally, international students must provide an affidavit
of financial responsibility and sufficient proof of finances in order to enroll
at the College.
Birmingham-Southern College is a Network Member Institution of the
Institute of International Education.
Not-Candidate-For-Degree Students
Not-candidate-for-degree students (transient and special students) must
complete the transient student application, submit an official transcript
from the institution last attended, submit a letter of recommendation, and
complete the credit certification form.
Special students must follow the procedures applicable to transfer students
if they have completed college level courses or to entering first-year students
if they have never been enrolled in a college or university.
Dual Enrollment
Birmingham-Southern College offers the dual enrollment plan to gifted
Birmingham area high school seniors who might wish to take college
courses for credit while still attending high school.
A student who is selected for the dual enrollment plan may take only one
course per term. One unit equals 4 semester hours or 6 quarter hours.
