Fine and Performing Arts Scholarships
Fine and Performing Arts Scholarships are awarded to talented high
school seniors and transfer students who compete in the Fine and
Performing Arts Scholarship Competition held on campus each February.
These scholarships are for the areas of Art, Art History, Music (vocal and
instrumental), Musical Theatre, and Theatre Arts, and are awarded through
a portfolio review or audition process. To be eligible to compete for these
scholarships, students must complete an application for admission and
RSVP for the event through the Office of Admission website at least one
week prior to the event date.
Studio art scholarships are determined by means of a student portfolio
review and a personal interview with members of the art faculty. The
portfolio, not to exceed 30 inches on any side, should contain only two-
dimensional art. Works such as sculpture, crafts, and large oil paintings
should be presented through photographs or slides. The entire portfolio
may be presented through photographs or slides. Portfolios should be
brought to the Fine and Performing Arts Scholarship Competition. Art
history awards are based on a written visual analysis submitted by the
student and a personal interview with art history faculty.
Music scholarships are determined by an audition and an interview.
Vocalists are expected to sing at least three songs from memory, including at
least one song in a foreign language and one song in English. Accompanists
are provided for the Fine and Performing Arts Scholarship Competition.
Pianists and organists are expected to play from memory two pieces of
at least the difficulty of the Bach inventions or the sonatas of Haydn or
